It’s almost the end year, the moment when people will ask you about your goals for 2025, or they will ask you if you have a mission statement for the year. And you will be compelled to say some virtual signaling phrases that will sound good in front of your friends and on social media. For example, I will fight against income inequality, or I want to save whales, or I will fight against social injustice. You get the point.
But let’s get real. Not everyone needs to say something that sounds good on social media. Your mission statement can be as simple as: ‘I want to feed my family.’ Or, ‘I like working, so I work.’ Maybe it’s even, ‘I wanna work less and enjoy life more’ And guess what? That’s totally okay.
You don’t need a big, flashy mission to live a meaningful life. Just living your truth—whether that’s staying active, taking care of loved ones, or simply investing in the stock market—is enough.
We are so busy creating signaling for other people to see that we don’t even know what we want for ourselves.
So don’t stress about crafting the perfect mission. Live your life, your way. That’s the best mission statement of all.
