Vandalizing Tesla Is An Act Of Domestic Terrorism

President Trump hinted he would be open to labeling individuals who carry out violence at Tesla dealerships as “domestic terrorists” following a string of violent demonstrations at the electric vehicle company’s showrooms across the U.S.

Trump was asked Tuesday (March 11) at the White House if he could speak about some of the violence occurring at Tesla dealerships, with a reporter noting that some people think those responsible should be labeled domestic terrorists.

“I will do that, I’ll do it. I’m going to stop them,” Trump said.

“Those people are going to go through a big problem when we catch them. We’ve got a lot of cameras up, we already know who some of them are. We’re going to catch them. And they’re bad guys. They’re the same guys that screw around with our schools and universities, the same garbage,” Trump added. “And, no, we’re going to catch them. And let me tell you, you do it to Tesla, and you do it to any company, we’re going to catch you and you’re going to go through hell.”

The president argued he would do the same for other American companies and corporations.

“If we catch anybody doing it, because they’re harming a great American company. I’ve stuck up for the NFL, I’ve stuck up for a lot of American companies and other companies, but American companies,” he said.

“The ongoing and heinous acts of violence against Tesla by radical Leftist activists are nothing short of domestic terror. President Trump has been clear, these attacks, or any other attack to intimidate or coerce our government or it’s people will not stand in President Trump’s America,” Trump spokesperson Harrison Fields told The Hill.

The president took wide-ranging questions from reporters on Tuesday alongside Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is a Trump senior adviser, while he checked out Tesla cars that were brought to the White House.

Elon Musk has come under increasing scrutiny for his efforts to carry out Trump’s promised cuts to the federal workforce through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Its mass layoffs, spending cuts and increased access to sensitive data has sparked broad pushback.

In turn, Musk’s electric vehicle company has become a target.

Over the past few weeks, protesters have targeted a string of Tesla showrooms, while some EVs have been vandalized on the street. Some Tesla owners have put bumper stickers displaying messages like “I bought it before Elon went nuts.”

In Colorado, a protester was arrested last month for allegedly spray-painting “Nazi” under the Tesla sign and ignited Molotov cocktails in multiple visits.

Destroying Tesla vehicles and property to make a political statement fits the definition of domestic terrorism. Here is the definition of domestic terrorism:

Domestic terrorism refers to acts of violence or threats of violence committed by individuals or groups within their own country to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence government policy, or affect the conduct of a government.

In the United States, the FBI defines domestic terrorism as activities that:

  1. Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law.
  2. Appear intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population.
  3. Influence government policy by intimidation or coercion.
  4. Affect government operations through violent acts.

Examples can include politically motivated attacks, hate crimes, or violent extremism linked to ideologies such as white nationalism, eco-terrorism, or anti-government extremism.

These vandalizers are in fact, domestic terrorist, and they should be treated as such.

The FBI should get involved in this matter and arrest those criminals.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

Attacks on Tesla must be investigated as domestic terrorism! Today, my @DOGECommittee colleagues and I sent a letter to @AGPamBondi and @FBIDirectorKash asking for an investigation into the wave of organized attacks targeting @elonmusk, @Tesla, and the @DOGE effort. Who is behind it? Who is funding it? Is there a link with Democrat-leaning NGOs? We look forward to exposing these terrorists and bringing them to justice!

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi: “If you went after someone because of their political affiliation, we will be investigating you. For instance, look what they’re continuing to do to Elon. They are targeting Tesla dealerships and Tesla charging stations, they’re vandalizing cars. I have already directed an investigation be opened to see how this is being funded. Who is behind this? We have people we’re locking up on that. We have someone in jail right now from one of the dealerships, they threw a Molotov cocktail through a dealership. They’re looking at up to 20 years in prison. If you’re going to touch a Tesla, go to a dealership, or do anything, you better watch out, because we’re coming after you. And if you’re funding this, we’re coming after you.  We’re going to find out who you are.” Fox News, March 14, 2025
