The United States is developing a plan that will require foreign visitors to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
I applaud this initiative. The only way to stop the virus is by restricting the movement of those who can easily spread the virus, the unvaccinated.
Every country in the world should follow a similar policy. We don’t have to lock down the economy and restrict the movement of everyone, we just have to restrict the movement of those who can carry the virus.
The plan is in the works now so it will be ready when the U.S. reopens. Current travel restrictions remain in place because of concerns about the delta variant.
The U.S. bars entry for most noncitizens who have been in the U.K., European Union nations, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran, or Brazil within the last 14 days. It’s unclear when the U.S. might lift those restrictions.
This is one example in which the U.S. is doing the right thing to stop spreading the virus.
