Every single business needs to have a security plan in place. Whether it’s for your software and computer security or your physical security, you need the right plan to ensure that your employees, equipment, and premises are kept safe. Without the right security measures, you are going to struggle to deter and prevent people from coming into your business uninvited.
Security isn’t something you should slack over, and whether you are looking to invest in industrial fencing or you want to add extra locks on the doors, you need to consider what your workplace security should look like to you. So, let’s take a look at some of the top security tips you didn’t know you needed!
- Check Your Windows & Doors. Whether you have interior or exterior doors – or both – in your business, you need to be doing morning and night checks on them to make sure that the locks are working properly. Check them before you leave and when you come into the premises every day, and you’ll know if any of the locks have stopped working pretty quickly!
- Embrace Technology. All of the entrances and exits need to be upgraded to smart locks, and monitored with smart alarms that can controled through a dedicated security app on smartphones, tablets or smrt watches. Combination locks are ideal for controlling access in and out of the building. With codes, only certain people will have access to your building and it’s a good way to ensure that you have tightened security completely.
- Security Systems. Upgrade and update your security systems regularly so that they can alert the police if there is a break-in. The code to this system shouldn’t be shared with too many people, and you should change it regularly enough that you have a system that feels brand new as much as possible.
- Video. CCTV and other video systems at the entrances to your business will help you to maintain control over who comes in and out of your business. Not only will CCTV act as a deterrent, it’ll help you to catch anyone moving in and out of your business easily. Just don’t forget to put the cameras in places you know that people will be able to show up on them.
- The Car Park. It’s not just about the building premises, either. You need to remember to secure your car park for your business. Think about adding an attendant if your carpark is big enough. It should have the right fencing to allow only the right cars in and out, and you can add a code to ensure that your staff is the ones using the car park, too.
- Badges. All visitors in and out of the business should have badges to clearly identify the fact that they are simply visiting. It doesn’t make sense to have people move in and out of your business without identification, so don’t allow that to happen. You need to know who is in your business at any time given your insurance and the possibility of fires!
