Top Tips for Being an Uber Delivery Driver

If you are looking for a second income, you might have considered being a food delivery driver for either delivery Uber or one of the many delivery companies out there. There are things that you have to consider though before you just jump straight into being a driver and delivering food.

You can’t just drive around wherever you want to go. You have to be in the right location to pick up food orders. App orders can come through at any time of day, so here are our tips for earning that crust.

  1. Fill your tank up early. Before you get out there and start making yourself available on the apps. Make sure that you have a full tank so that you are ready to go. A lot of people choose to use delivery services as a top up so they don’t pay for petrol out of their income here. You need to make sure that your petrol tank is completely topped up and ready to go so that you don’t have to stop for petrol during the busiest times of the day.
  2. Make sure your car is equipped. If you’ve ever ordered food online, you know that the worst thing to happen is when it arrives and it’s cold. It doesn’t have to happen to your customers though, you can order portable pizza delivery bags and be ready for hot food to stay hot. In fact, if you make sure that you have a cool bag for any cold orders and a pizza delivery bag for any hot orders, you are always going to be able to deliver hot food which is always going to give you the best ratings and reviews from customers. You will rely on these if you want to get higher incomes from your delivery service.
  3. Try not to take too many at once. You can take multiple orders at the same time, but taking too many at once can actually cause some friction when it comes to doing deliveries. Remember, you’re looking for those five star reviews and you can’t get those if you’re delivering cold food or you’re delivering too late. Everybody wants their food pretty quickly after pick up, and if you take on too many orders, you won’t be able to do that.
  4. Know your location. If you’re delivering food, you need to know the area that you’re going to be in. So make sure that you have your sat NAV tuned up and ready to go, or at least deliver in areas where you know where you’re going. Again, you want to make sure that you are delivering the best possible service and the best way to do that is to make sure that you are delivering on time every time and you’re not losing deliveries and taking pictures of random houses where you’ve just dropped them off at.
  5. Create a balance. If you don’t like to deliver in the mornings, make sure you stick to the dinner shifts. If you’re not a fan of driving in the evenings, go with breakfasts. People will always be ordering around breakfast, lunch and dinner time, so make yourself available during those times and you will be less busy during your leisure time.
