I often find myself noticing a person’s potential or seeing ways they could improve their lives, particularly their financial situation, and I think, “If I were in their shoes, I would do X.”
But the reality is, I’m not them, and they’re not me, so most of the time, my ideas wouldn’t work out.
The potential you see in others is rarely theirs to realize—it’s simply a reflection of what you would do if you were in their position. You may recognize the possibility for greatness in others, but unless they truly want it for themselves, you can’t change them.
What you’re seeing is not their vision, but your own. And if it’s not aligned with what they want, it’s a wasted effort. It’s important to accept people for who they are, not who you think they could be.
