Life, Leadership, and Money Matters

The harder I work, The luckier I get

The harder you work, the luckier you get

That was Bobby Seagull in a conversation with Ali Abdaal.

The quote, “The harder I work, the luckier I get” was first attributed to Samuel Goldwyn, a pioneer in the American film industry.

Many times people say that this person and the other got lucky. And yes, luck may play a big role on someone’s success, but there is also a lot of hard work and perseverance. For example, I might feel lucky to live in Canada, a place with so much opportunity, but I took a big risk to get here, while so many native Canadians were lucky to be born here.

Yes, luck can play a role in certain situations, but it’s often the result of being prepared, persistent, and taking advantage of opportunities that increases your luck surface level.

For example, someone might perceive a successful businessperson as lucky because they’ve achieved wealth and recognition. However, what may not be immediately apparent is the years of hard work, sacrifices, and learning experiences that contributed to their success. They might have faced numerous challenges and setbacks along the way but persisted through them, ultimately creating their own opportunities and “luck.”

In essence, this quote serves as a reminder that success is rarely handed out randomly; it’s earned through dedication, diligence, and a willingness to keep pushing forward despite obstacles.
