Free Online Education

Free Online Education, Khan Academy

Do you wish you could take some college classes from the best teachers in the word, for free…

I hear it all the time:

  • Education is unacessible
  • Education is too expensive
  • Education is only for the rich.

Well, I don’t agree with those ideas.

Getting a good education doesn’t require going to Ivy League schools.

The internet has opened a world of opportunity if you want to become a student or if you want to become a tutor as a side hustle.

Top level universities are giving their education material for free or for a fraction of the cost of traditional colleges and universities.

One of my favorite examples of top education for free is Khan Academy.

The story of Khan academy is a bit funny. Sal Kahn, who lived in California, was trying to help his cousin (who lived in N.Y.) with her math homework, so he recorded a few videos online for her to see and follow.

To his surprise, the videos were being seen by many other people who had similar math problems, so created the Khan Academy YouTube Channel. That YouTube channel now has about 8 million subscriber and and it has about 8,300 videos uploaded. After the huge success of his YouTube channel he created KhanAcademy.org, a non-profit organization where he organizes all his courses.

What sets Khan Academy apart is its accessibility. Both learners and teachers can access the platform without any cost. The website is supported by many well know organizations as you can see in the footer of the website. It’s also supported by the donations of thousand of individuals.

The website offers a comprehensive range of lessons designed for students from kindergarten through early college. Subjects covered include math, grammar, science, history, AP® exams, SAT®, and more.

One more advantage of Khan academy, is that if you ever wanted to become a tutor, there is a clear path of the material you have to learn in order to be able to be a good tutor of math and science.
