Today, Tuesday, June 1st, 2021, marks 100 years since the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Mobs of white residents, many of them deputized and given weapons by city officials, attacked Black residents and burned businesses of the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Alternatively known as the Black Wall Street massacre or the Tulsa race riot, which murdered up to 300 Black men, women, and children, and then was erased from history.
