Life, Leadership, and Money Matters

Has the pandemic inspired a new search for your passion?

Do you know what’s your passion? Have you always known what you wanted to be?

One of my dreams was to become a gangster

When I was about 9 years old, I wanted to become a gangster.

I saw the movie The Godfather (1972) and I fell in love with his power. I wanted to be like him.

To find your passion you have to try many different things

And I grew up with the thought that I would be a criminal. I started spending time with friends who were doing drugs and alcohol.

I dropped out of school twice, because I was getting drunk with my friends.

I didn’t have any money because I couldn’t hold a job.

My girlfriend left me.

My mother was angry at me and my father never noticed anything because he was busy cheating on my mother.

One day, I woke up with puke all over my clothes, with a huge headache, hungry, and tired of being a loser.

I decided to change my life.

I wanted to be a rich capitalist pig

Another movie that influenced my life was the movie Wall Street (1987)

Now, I wanted to be a Wall Street millionaire.

I stopped drinking.

I dropped my looser friends.

I decided to immigrate to Canada.

I got my grades to be good enough so that I could be accepted by a Canadian University. I cleaned up my act, and I started to put money together to start my new journey in life.

Following the social script

I came to Canada.

I studied for 5 years.

I got a job as a financial adviser.

I quit in less than one year.

I didn’t know what to do with my life

While working as a financial adviser, I grew a conscience. I found out that my job was to sell shit products to my clients so that my boss could make a lot of money.

I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t screw up people’s retirement money to make a big commission for my boss. I quit and I became a…

Most of us don’t know what we want to do with our life. We switch from one gig to the next. Many times our choices make no sense.

There is no such thing as following your passion

Many people are in the eternal search for their passion, the ONE thing that would give their lives meaning.

Maybe, if we sit down cross-legged, in a yogi position, close our eyes and chant three times Om, we can connect with our inner selves.

Maybe, if we hold spirit crystals we can connect with the spirit realm, uplift our soul and radiate strong vibrations and energy until we find spiritual evolution.

Maybe none of those things will happen.

The boring reality of our existence

The reality is that we have to continue doing stuff every day.

One day we will find the one thing that makes us happy, that gives us meaning until we feel satisfied, and then we embark on a new quest for meaning.

Sometimes we are just too afraid to change anything in our lives, and we live with the regret of not knowing “what if…” and that’s how it is, many times we were too afraid to try something new.

Life in times of COVID-19

Covid-19 has become a big life disruptor. We had a way of living and for many of us, that way of living has been disrupted.

Many of us have been forced to withdraw from our day-to-day life distractions and have been forced to look inward.

Some of us have decided to make more changes in our lives. Others have decided to become more radical in their previous belief. Others can’t wait until things go back to the way they were.

Which one are you?

Have you found a new purpose for your life?
