This weekend I had a disagreement with a client.
We both had reasons to be upset at each other.
In his regular job, this client holds a position of authority, so he’s used to people deferring to him.
In his frustration, he mumble “FU”.
I looked at him in the eye, rose my voice a bit higher, and said, “No, FU!”
If I was a regular employee, I would have been fired on the spot.
But I am not his employee, and I don’t need his money.
The next day, he messaged me with an apology, and I apologized in return.
Our dignity and self-worth is one of our most precious assets that we have, and often times we swallow it due to our financial responsibilities.
We should always be striving for the financial security that will allow us to answer back “FU” when someone disrespect us.
Protect your dignity and self worth and start saving for that FU money as soon as possible, you never know when you will need it.
