Go Green with Your Events to Enhance the Experience

Running any kind of corporate event requires a large amount of planning to ensure everything runs smoothly. One of the key issues for any event planner to consider today is whether the event is eco-friendly. Attendees want to know that the event is being carried out responsibly and that it’s not going to produce too much waste or use unnecessary energy. If your company values being green, you need to apply that to the events that you run too. There are many ways to make an event greener so that it has a lower impact on the environment. Here are just some of the steps you could take.

Make Your Event Paperless

Many events today no longer use paper tickets. Attendees may not have a printer to print them out, and having one printed and mailed to them often costs extra money. A paperless event is more eco-friendly and more convenient for guests. You can use a few methods to get rid of paper tickets, including e-tickets and QR codes that can be used to check in to the event. There are other ways you might make sure you reduce your use of paper. Give event staff tablets instead of clipboards with paper so they can easily track attendees, tasks, or anything else.

Reduce Waste

The amount of waste that an event produces is another key issue to consider during planning. Wastes can create plenty of waste from food and drink, promo items, and various products that are being used. But there are plenty of ways to reduce waste and make any event greener too. For example, using biodegradable packaging and products for things like food and drink will help to reduce waste. If you’re handing out promo products, pick something that will actually be used rather than simply tossed away. Make sure there’s recycling at your event too so that waste can be sorted correctly.

Consider Catering Carefully

Your event’s catering is important to think about if you want it to be green. Think carefully about how to source an eco-friendly catering option. You might consider using caterers who source their ingredients locally to ensure your food and drink are sustainable. You can also consider the drinks receptacles and other items used to ensure they’re either reusable or can be recycled. Another thing to think about is ensuring you don’t end up with a lot of food waste. Plan your catering so there’s enough for everyone but not too much.

Use a Green Venue

Your choice of venue can make a big difference when you’re planning an event. In fact, the venue will be in charge of many of the things that will affect how eco-friendly the event is. So when you’re looking for the right venue, consider their green policies and the steps that they take to be eco-friendly. You can look at how they manage energy, waste, and other issues affecting their greenness.

By going green when you plan an event, you can maintain your brand values and please your event attendees too.
