Life, Leadership, and Money Matters

I became financially independent, but I can’t stop working

The day finally arrived! I sold my last property, which I bought during the early years of the Airbnb gold rush. Now I have enough money invested in the stock market so that I will never have to work for a living for the rest of my life.

What am I going to do?
Move to Mexico and drink Margaritas for the rest of my life?
Buy a giant TV screen and watch Netflix every evening?

I tried doing nothing for about a week and the truth is that I got depressed. I had a world of possibilities in front of me and no desire to do any of that.

The truth is that I love working. But there is a big caveat, I love working under my own conditions. I like working the hours that I like to work and I like taking vacation time or time off whenever it suits me. I like working but I like having complete autonomy of my time.

So what’s on the agenda now that I am financially independent?

  1. I will continue blogging. Blogging gives my brain a reason to organize its thoughts and continue learning and using my writing skills. I think that writing makes us better thinkers and better communicators. Plus blogging produce a little bit of revenue.
  2. I will focus on the reopening of my photography business. I closed it due to Covid, but now that I am double vaccinated, and that there is a vaccine passport implementation in most public venues, I am ready to open back the shop.
  3. I take one French class per week. I will continue doing that.
  4. I am am thinking of going back to school and study journalism.

Have you retired yet? If so, what do you do with your time?
