Earth Day is an annual event which takes place every year on April 22 to show our support for the planet and take consciousness of all the way in which we can contribute to keep the planet healthy or stop doing things which damage our planet.
Today, I want to share three simple activities we can do (or stop doing) in order to support our planet.
Stop eating meat
- Factory farming is cruel towards animals. Those animals live in horrendous circumstances from the moment they are born until the moment they are slaughtered.
- Farmed animals consume a huge amount of natural resources and produce methane gas which is more than 30 times as effective in trapping heat, making it a major greenhouse gas.
- Meat and dairy products are not good for your health.
If you find it difficult to stop eating meat, try reducing the amount of meat you eat. At the very least, try not eating meat for one day.
Reduce the use of gas-powered motor vehicles
Try walking more or using public transportation. Maybe it’s difficult for you. You might live a a place where you need your car, but keep it in mind. Or maybe, your next vehicle could be an electric vehicle.
Reduce the amount of new clothing you buy
The fashion industry has a disastrous impact on the environment. In fact, it is the second-largest polluter in the world, just after the oil industry. And the environmental damage is increasing as the industry grows.
Conclusion
By following these simple tips, you can help save the planet and you can save some money too. It’s a win-win situation.
