African Americans have been enslaved, lynched, discriminated against, and oppressed since the year 1619, when a ship with 20 captive Africans, landed on the coasts of Virginia. At that moment, a sad period for humanity started as the British and Americans manage to accumulate over 6,000,000 slaves before the end of the American Civil War.
When slavery was abolished (1865), African Americans became free people, but they were never accepted as equals and they were subjected to a cycle of oppression and discrimination that is still alive today, 156 years after the elimination of slavery.
As the years have passed by, white supremacists have been trying to change, hide, or erase this unfortunate moment of history, while civil rights leaders have been trying to teach us about the past through Critical Race Theory,
White supremacists call Critical Race Theory divisive. If you don’t talk about it, is as if it never happened.
Unfortunately, slavery did happen. Oppression and discrimination are still happening now, mostly because we haven’t learned from our mistakes.
I support 100% Critical Race Theory, which examines social, cultural, and legal issues as they relate to race and racism. We should always know our history no matter how painful it is. Only by being aware of our past, we can begin to heal as a society.
Please stop for a moment and watch this, with the sound on. Share with others. An unflinching rebuttal to all those who are politicizing studies of race and injustice courtesy of Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
