Has it ever happened to you that you see someone doing something creative, something unique, and not outside your range of capabilities, and you say to yourself: “I could have done that!”
Well, you didn’t, and they did. Someone fought the resistance, conquered their fears and insecurities, while you were scrolling on your phone or watching Netflix.
You told your friends that one day you would do that one thing—you would ask the girl out, start that business, write that book, take that dance class—but you didn’t. You decided to live your life by watching others take action. They made it a priority and decided that some day would be Today.
When that happens, you can just accept that you are not an action-taker, that you prefer dreaming about doing things rather than actually doing them. Or you could decide to become an action-taker. Turn off the TV, avoid distractions, and start taking action.
