3 Tips For Getting More Storage Into A Small Space

If you live in a small home, or if you only have a small area of your home that you’re trying to work in, it can be hard to fit everything that you have into this small space. Luckily, there are all kinds of creative things that you can do to help you find more options for storage space, even in the smallest of areas.

To help you learn just what the possibilities are in your space, here are three tips for getting more storage into a small space.

Get Creative With Custom Pieces

Oftentimes, when you’re working in a truly small space, traditional options for storage may not work for you. Because of this, getting creative with custom pieces will usually be your best bet.

There are all kinds of ways that you can go about getting or creating custom pieces for your home storage options. If you have the means, you can have a carpenter create custom storage pieces for your home that will fit in the exact spaces that you have available for some storage. They may even be able to come up with options that you hadn’t thought of. You can also take pieces that maybe aren’t traditionally thought of as storage options and upcycle them so that they fit your needs.

Use Low Profile Shelves

Shelves can be a great option for storage. But if you’re really lacking in space, you might not have the footprint available for shelving. Luckily, you can use low profile shelves to help you find space in areas that you might not have thought of before.

With low profile shelves, you can put small shelves behind the doors in various rooms in your home so that you can put this space to use for you. You can also hang things on the back of doors or cupboards so that you have additional storage space for smaller items.

Hide Storage Where You Need It

In small spaces, sometimes you need to only include furniture in the space that can pull double duty. This way, you can hide your storage in items that you need for the function of your home without losing out on much needed storage space.

Depending on what kind of furniture you want to include in your space, you can have hidden storage compartments in things like benches, ottomans, couches, under beds, and much more. And by choosing furniture that allows you to hide storage within it, you will always have the items you need close by so that you can easily grab them to use them and then put them back when you’re done, helping to keep clutter to a minimum.

If you need to fit more storage into your small space, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you accomplish this.
